Pomegranate Berry Protein Smoothie in a glass

Pomegranate juice is naturally sweet-tart and concentrated, so three tablespoons is enough to flavor the whole glass without adding much volume.

Raspberries back it up, and together they make one of the more dramatic-tasting smoothies here for very little effort.

Part of our 50 high-protein, low-carb smoothie recipes list.

method

  1. Pour the pomegranate juice and water into the blender, add the raspberries and protein powder.

  2. Add the ice. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until completely smooth.

  3. Taste and adjust: a few more ice cubes for thicker, a splash more liquid for thinner. Drink cold.

chef's tips

  • Pomegranate juice is naturally sweet-tart and concentrated. A little goes a long way, so don't add more than called for.
  • Use a protein powder with no added sugar. It is the difference between a few grams of carbs per scoop and a lot more.
