A peanut butter chocolate smoothie in a glass.

Three ingredients plus ice, and it tastes like dessert. The peanut butter brings the richness and keeps you full; the chocolate protein does the peanut butter cup half of the deal.

This is the one to reach for after a workout when you want something that feels like a reward.

This is number 4 of our top 20 high protein, low carb smoothies.

method

  1. Pour the almond milk into the blender, add the protein powder and peanut butter.

  2. Add the ice. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until completely smooth.

  3. Taste and adjust: a few more ice cubes for thicker, a splash more liquid for thinner. Drink cold.

chef's tips

  • Check the peanut butter label: just peanuts and salt. The sweetened kind adds sugar you do not need.
  • A pinch of flaky salt on top makes the chocolate taste deeper.
  • Liquid first, soft ingredients next, ice last. It blends faster and nothing sticks under the blades.
