High-Fiber Chia Protein Smoothie in a glass

A ten-minute soak lets the chia seeds gel in the almond milk first, so the finished smoothie comes out thicker, closer to a pudding than a drink.

Skip the soak if you are in a hurry. It still blends fine; you just get a slightly looser texture.

method

  1. Stir the chia seeds into the almond milk and let them soak for 10 minutes, until they start to gel.

  2. Pour the soaked chia and milk into the blender, add the berries, protein powder and ice.

  3. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until completely smooth. Drink cold.

  • Use a protein powder with no added sugar. It is the difference between a few grams of carbs per scoop and a lot more.
