This elegant dish brings restaurant-quality flavor to your table in minutes with minimal ingredients and preparation.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz sushi-grade tuna steak
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds (mix of black and white if available)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional dipping sauce: 1 tbsp soy sauce mixed with 1/2 tsp wasabi

Instructions

  1. Pat tuna steak dry with paper towels
  2. Season with salt and pepper on both sides
  3. Spread sesame seeds on a plate and press tuna into seeds, coating all sides
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over high heat until very hot
  5. Sear tuna for 30-60 seconds per side (depending on desired doneness)
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute
  7. Slice thinly against the grain

Pro Tip

For the best texture, ensure your pan is extremely hot before adding the tuna, and don't overcook—the center should remain rare for the best flavor and texture.
